VIEW ATTACHMENTS FOLLOWING PUBLIC NOTICE
The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) operates ambient air monitoring stations to establish compliance with ambient standards, track air quality trends, evaluate progress of emission control programs and support development of emission control and air quality research programs. Accomplishment of these tasks also satisfies requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 40, Part 58. These stations measure ambient air concentrations of those pollutants for which standards have been established in 40 CFR Part 50. Data acquired from the stations are submitted into the EPA’s Air Quality System (AQS) where it is judged against the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). Access to this information is available through EPA’s website (
www.epa.gov) as well as on the LDEQ website. Pursuant to 40 CFR 58.10, starting in 2007,
states are required to adopt and submit an annual monitoring network plan to EPA by July 1 of each year. The plan and the network review that is a component of the plan are used to ensure that the network is continuing to meet the objectives of the air monitoring program. States are required to make the plan available for public review for 30 days prior to submission to EPA.
