SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 37

LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS. Designates April 22, as "Earth Day", and the month of April as "Earth Month".

  1. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
  2. To designate April 22, as "Earth Day", and the month of April as "Earth
  3. Month".
  4. WHEREAS, it is very important that we as a state set aside a month and
  5. a special day for environmental awareness; and
  6. WHEREAS, all people should be aware of the protection of the
  7. environment for the future of human, animal, and plant life; and
  8. WHEREAS, in 1970, Congress designated April as "Earth Month" and
  9. April 22, as "Earth Day"; and
  10. WHEREAS, many nations of the world also have designated April as
  11. "Earth Month" and April 22, as "Earth Day"; and
  12. WHEREAS, as a result of environmental awareness many laws have
  13. been created to protect our land, water, species, and air.
  14. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana
  15. acknowledges the importance of preserving the environment, and designates
  16. April as "Earth Month", and April 22, as "Earth Day".

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be

transmitted to the Department of Environmental Quality and Myrtle Anderson.
