The Sewage Sludge and Biosolids Use or Disposal Regulations

LAC 33 IX Subpart 3 Chapter 73 - Standards for the Use or Disposal of Sewage Sludge and Biosolids   

PLEASE NOTE: The Sewage Sludge and Biosolids Use or Disposal regulations, application for permit and reporting forms apply to sewage sludge pumped or removed (wasted) from a sanitary wastewater treatment facility, domestic septage, portable toilet waste (all collectively referred to in the regulations as “Sewage Sludge”) and grease that was pumped or removed from a food service facility and mixed with sewage sludge. 


Sewage Sludge & Biosolids Use or Disposal Permit Applications Due

 As per LAC 33:IX.7301.D.1.v, ALL Minor Sanitary Wastewater Treatment Facilities (POTW and Privately-owned) shall submit a completed Sewage Sludge & Biosolids Use or Disposal Permit Application to LDEQ by January 1, 2013. 

This also indicates that, on January 1, 2013, ALL sanitary wastewater treatment facilities and sewage sludge preparation/treatment that are operating on or before must either possess a Sewage Sludge & Biosolids Use or Disposal Permit or must have submitted an application to LDEQ for a Sewage Sludge & Biosolids Use or Disposal Permit; as per the requirements set at LAC 33:IX.7301.D.1.

NOTE:  You must submit an original and one (1) copy of the Permit Application Form and also for the NOI’s for the General Permit that you are requesting coverage.
