Household Hazardous Materials Day 2000
September 16, 2000 was a busy day in the Shreveport area. Shreveport Green and Bossier Clean City partnered with the Sheriff's office and area businesses for the area's second household hazardous waste collection event. 471 vehicles deposited material from 564 households at the event. Material collected included over 18,000 pounds of paint, 2000 pounds of pesticide, 825 old tires, 905 gallons of used motor oil, 55 gallons of antifreeze, 250 oil filters, 180 lead acid batteries, and 1000 aerosol cans. And tons of other household hazardous material diverted from the landfill.
Not bad for a few hours work!
This is a fine example of another Louisiana community working together to benefit the environment. Congratulations and thank you!
