ENVIROSCHOOL FOR COMMUNITIES 

A NEW FRONT-LOADING CONCEPT DEVELOPED BY THE 2008 DEQ LEADERSHIP TEAM

 

  EDUCATION + MEANINGFUL PARTICIPATION= 

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT  

The ENVIROSCHOOL for communities training program is a series of training sessions designed to educate communities and encourage meaningful participation in the regulatory process.  The goal is for communities to become informed and skilled on how to access and utilize informational resources.  


Training sessions will focus on a series of regulatory topics including:  Environmental Regulations & Standards 101, Access 101, Public Participation 101 and Permits 101.  Please view the full ENVIROSCHOOL schedule below for more information on the sessions.(We are currently updating our 2009 schedules-please check back.)

JULY 2009 SCHEDULE 

Remediation 101: Understanding Remediation Basics
The July session is Remediation 101.  In this session, participants will be provided an overview of the role and activities handled by the Remediation Services Division including understanding remediation, Brownfields basics and RECAP (Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program).  (This session will be held in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lake Charles, and Shreveport.)  

Surveillance & Enforcement 101:  How the Process Works
The Alexandria and Monroe July session is Surveillance & Enforcement 101.  This session will focus on the roles and process of the Surveillance and Enforcement Divisions including discussions on: facility inspections, ambient monitoring, enforcement referrals, and types of enforcement actions.  (This session will be held in Alexandria and Monroe only)
