The Environmental Assistance Division plays a support role for many of the more traditional programs within the department. The Public Participation Group (PPG) is responsible for making sure that all public notices for permitting actions and public hearings are processed according to the specific media regulations.
The Mail, Data, Application Verification Group (MDAV) ensures that all permit-related mail and applications are properly categorized, reviewed for completeness, and transmitted to the appropriate permit group. Additionally, straightforward facility name and ownership changes are processed by MDAV.
The Small Business / Small Community Assistance Program works with entities that might need a little extra help to comply with environmental regulations. On-site visits are made to help explain permit requirements, conduct pollution audits or to complete permit applications. The program can also arrange Pre-Permit Meetings for companies that are thinking about moving into the state and wish to discuss permit requirements for their planned facility.
The Litter and Recycling Group works closely with educators, students, local governments and industrial sectors to promote a litter-free environment and the culture of reduce / reuse / recycle.
The Division also handles receipt and disposition of annual hazardous waste reports that are required to be submitted by generators within the state.
If you have any questions or need assistance from this division, please don't hesitate to contact Vince Sagnibene, Administrator, at 225-219-3241. |
