Air Quality Action Day for Ozone forecasted for May 15 in Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas

Air Quality Action Day for Ozone for the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.

Friday, moderate southerly winds will improve dispersion over western Louisiana as a surface ridge of high pressure slowly departs to the east. However, pollutant carryover is high from Thursday. In addition, mostly sunny skies and highs near 90F will enhance ozone formation, while light and variable winds will allow pollutants to linger over southeastern portions of the state. As a result, AQI levels will be low- to mid-Moderate in most locations, with Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups AQI levels anticipated in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
