The LSU Ag Center, Connect My Louisiana initiative covers 18 parishes that were identified as having low rates of broadband Internet use. The parishes include Allen, Avoyelles, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Franklin, Jefferson Davis, LaSalle, Madison, Morehouse, Pointe Coupee, Richland, St. Helena, Tensas, Washington and West Carroll.

DEQ takes measures to address elevated SO2 levels at Chalmette monitor - January 23, 2013
On Jan. 11-12, the Department of Environmental Quality used its Mobile Air Monitoring Laboratory to conduct additional air sampling in St. Bernard Parish. This effort was undertaken because the Chalmette Vista air monitor site has shown levels of SO2 above the new National Ambient Air Quality Standard of 75 parts per billion and as a result of recent odor complaints.

New Jersey man and Louisiana man plead guilty to illegal disposal of wastes - September 18, 2015
A New Jersey man and a Sulphur man were sentenced Thursday, Sept. 17, in the 31st Judicial District Court for violating Louisiana waste disposal laws and the Environmental Quality Act. George L. Ryals III, 63, of Newton, N.J., and Michael Anaker, 57, of Sulphur, illegally disposed of a large number of compressed gas cylinders by abandoning them in a warehouse in Roanoke.

EPA selects LDEQ for $2 Million Brownfields Assessment Grant - May 13, 2022
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently announced the award of a $2 million grant to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to go toward Brownfields assessments. Additional Brownfields assessment grants in the amount of $500,000 each were awarded to the city of Baton Rouge/East Baton Rouge Parish, Regional Planning Commission (St. Bernard Parish Commercial Corridor). EPA also announced $2 million in funding for the South Central Planning and Development Commission in Houma on behalf of the Brownfields Coalition Revolving Loan Fund.
