The most common mistakes made when using curbside recycling is contamination of recyclable materials due to food
or grease being in/on containers. Please rinse before you recycle. Sometimes people use recycling bins for
regular garbage. This garbage contaminates clean recyclables.

Calcasieu Parish has two Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers at which residents can bring sorted recyclable items. This service is at no cost to Calcasieu Parish residents with a valid driver's licenses.

  • Drop-off recycling - Residents without curbside recycling can drop off recyclables at the Republic Services office, located at 102 BJ Services Drive.

    The same items that are collected with the curbside recycling program can be dropped off.

Village of Parks

The Village of Parks contracts with an outside Waste Management company for solid waste collection and recycling.
Everyone is required to have garbage collection with recyclilng optional.

Residential recycling can be dropped of at the City’s maintenance facility in the 300 block of North Fourth Street, on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.

Acceptable Recycling Items  * Please place these items loose in a container or clear plastic bag*

  • Aluminum cans: Cans shall be rinsed.
  • Paper: Clean, unsoiled newsprint?type paper, magazines, catalogs, gift wrap, paper bags, junk mail, white or colored paper, envelopes. No bound books, paperbound/wrapped in plastic, rubber bands, or photos.
  • Plastics: PET, HDPE, and PVC containers should be rinsed and caps removed.
  • Tin Cans: Steel food containers should be rinsed prior to placement in the recycling bin.
  • No glass or styrofoam accepted

              The two recycling centers are
                         Opelousas Recycling Center is located at 2717 West Landry Street, Opelousas, LA.  (337) 942-9576 

                         Eunice Recycling Center is located at 450 N. C.C. Duson, Eunice, LA. (337) 457-1336

              The centers are open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
               Accepted materials are cardboard, newspaper, magazines, and other paper products, aluminum and metal cans,                       and  most plastic products.
               Both locations operate a buy-back center where individuals are paid for items they deliver. You can make money                       from items or choose to not get paid for recycling items but donate the money to any school in St. Landry                                   Parish.
